Public Events & Visitor Education

Public Events serve Mount Auburn’s Mission by welcoming community members to experience thoughtful and intentional programming that centers on the Cemetery’s values. All our public events seek to nurture Mount Auburn’s defining aesthetic—to bring nature and the human experience together by offering supportive and inclusive opportunities for people to grieve, learn, find community, and be inspired.

All Public Events are sponsored by the Friends of Mount Auburn, a non-profit educational trust dedicated to conserving the Cemetery’s natural beauty and promoting appreciation of its cultural, historic, and natural resources.

The Friends of Mount Auburn hosts a wide variety of walks, talks, workshops and more. Learn about Art; Death, Grief, and Healing; History & Commemoration; Horticulture, Nature, and Wildlife.

Take a look at our Events Calendar to register for upcoming programs.

Experience a deeper connection to Mount Auburn Cemetery with free and discounted access to programs and special events by joining the Friends of Mount Auburn. Our robust roster of programs each year is made possible by the generous support of our donors and in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
