Winter Season of Remembrance
Please read on for important updates regarding the 2020 Winter Season of Remembrance.
To all in our Mount Auburn community,
The COVID-19 Pandemic continues to impact our Cemetery operations in ways both large and small. We have seen a significant rise in demand for our at-need services—burials, cremations, and other memorialization offerings. Simultaneously, restrictions on gathering sizes and enhanced safety measures have altered and impeded how we can carry out our daily work.
We must share the unfortunate news that we will not offer our seasonal floral tributes this winter. After careful consideration, we have concluded that we must focus our efforts on meeting the ongoing demand for our at-need services. We hope to resume our floral tribute program in 2021, as pandemic conditions allow.
Our grounds remain open for visitation, and families are welcome to place tributes purchased elsewhere at graves this December. If you do buy a tribute for the Cemetery, please remember that our policy only allows for ones made of natural plant material.
We are also saddened to announce that there will be no in-person gathering for our Annual Candle Lighting Service. Instead, we have reimagined the Service as a virtual event, allowing us to gather and remember those we have lost safely. We invite you to join us virtually to bring light into the darkness as this year winds to an end.
We will announce the details for this year’s virtual Candle Lighting Service on our website in early December. Please check back for more details soon.
