The 1831 Society is a dedicated group of donors who are leading the way in preserving Mount Auburn Cemetery for generations to come. They come from different walks of life, and value Mount Auburn in different ways—but what they share is a deep commitment to investing in Mount Auburn’s past, present, and future.

Each year, we are honored to invite our most passionate supporters to join the 1831 Society to deepen their connection to this special place and enjoy behind-the-scenes access and unique events.

Join the 1831 Society to bridge the past and the present—and preserve Mount Auburn into the future.

The 1831 Society honors donors who have taken a leadership role in preserving, protecting, and promoting Mount Auburn. Across different generations, backgrounds, and cultures, they have one important thing in common: a strong commitment to maintaining the beauty of the Cemetery for thousands of visitors each year, from around the corner—and around the world. Some members give so their families will have a beautiful place to reflect and remember. Some give to keep the birdsong alive in the trees, each season of the year. Some give to preserve one-of-a-kind works of art and architecture for future scholars and enthusiasts. Some give because their daily walks with friends and loved ones are not just a luxury in the midst of hectic urban life, but a necessity.

In return, all members of the 1831 Society enjoy a deepened connection to Mount Auburn with exclusive, behind-the-scenes access.

The 1831 Society welcomes you to join us as a leadership donor—to invest in all Mount Auburn means to you and to enjoy special access and events.
