The Historical Collections Department is pleased to announce the completion of a project to digitize 1,600 images from its photograph collection. The project, made possible by a generous donation, will ensure the preservation of these historic images and their accessibility for researchers and staff. A number of the images reveal fascinating, never-before-seen views of the inner workings and operations of Mount Auburn.

“They contribute to our understanding of 20^th century American landscape design and interment practices,” says Curator of Historical Collections Meg L. Winslow. The initiative to increase access to the Cemetery’s photographic resources began in 2011. Only three years into the project, more than fifty percent of the Cemetery’s visual collections have been digitized.
