Toasting a Treasure: Conservation of the Binney Monument

March 1, 2015

Please join us to celebrate the completed conservation of the large marble monument to Amos Binney.  Designated a National Treasure and considered by many to be the most important work of funerary art of its time, the large marble monument to Amos Binney was carved in Italy by Thomas Crawford in 1847.  Please join Curator of Historical Collections, Meg L. Winslow, and Mount Auburn’s preservation staff to learn more about the conservation project as well as the significance and symbolism of this evocative memorial.  Meet at Bigelow Chapel.
