Mount Auburn Cemetery Underground Railroad
The Underground Railroad was just one of many paths to freedom for enslaved African-Americans in antebellum America, but it played an important role in galvanizing support for the abolition movement. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, volunteer docent Stephen Pinkerton will conduct a review of Mount Auburn Cemetery’s Underground Railroad connections, and weather permitting, visit the graves of key operators, black and white, at its Boston terminus.
