Friends of Mount Auburn Kickstarter Campaign!
Help the Friends of Mount Auburn Cemetery produce a CD recording celebrating Boston’s rich musical heritage through songs and piano works composed by individuals now buried at Mount Auburn.
This CD project will bring back to life music that has long been unheard. These compositions chronicle the history of American music, introduce listeners to the history of the New England School of American composers of the late 19th century, and tell the story of several talented musicians buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
This project celebrates the compositions of:
- George Whitefield Chadwick (1854-1931)
- Mabel Wheeler Daniels (1878-1971)
- Arthur Foote (185-1937)
- Margaret Ruthven Lang (1867-1972)
- John Knowles Paine (1839-1906)
- Daniel Pinkham (1923-2006)
- Randall Thompson (1899-1984)
In addition, the words of Julia Ward Howe (1819-1910), Thomas Bailey Aldrich (1836-1917), and Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983) will be spun into song by Jean Danton, trilling high above pianist Thomas Stumpf’s graceful key strokes.
