SUMMARY:Community Science Fair
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Mount Auburn’s Community Science Fair\, where biodiversity research leaders will share their work at interactive stations inside Bigelow Chapel. Attendees will have the chance to meet local experts\, learn about ongoing projects\, and discover how to get involved in supporting urban ecology. \nAs one of the largest green spaces in the area\, Mount Auburn is home to a wide range of species. But urbanization and climate change threaten wildlife through habitat loss\, fragmentation\, and pollution. In response\, we are working to improve habitat\, increase both plant and animal diversity\, and monitor the many species that visit and reside on our grounds. \nThrough partnerships with local scientists\, Mount Auburn conducts 18 ongoing observation-based field projects and offers a citizen science naturalist program that trains volunteers to support biodiversity research. Together\, we’ll slow down\, awaken our senses\, and experience the healing benefits of being fully present in the natural world. \nThrough mindful walking\, quiet reflection\, sensory invitations\, and optional moments of connection\, we’ll explore how nature can help us cultivate grounding\, resilience\, belonging\, and renewal. Surrounded by trees\, birdsong\, and seasonal beauty\, we’ll take time to notice\, breathe\, and reconnect with ourselves\, one another\, and the more-than-human world. \nWhether you’re seeking calm\, community\, or simply a peaceful pause from everyday life\, this welcoming walk offers an opportunity to restore your body\, mind\, and spirit while deepening your sense of connection to nature and to those walking beside you. \nCome as you are. Suitable for all ages and bodies and interests. Slow-paced walk around the cemetery with pauses and a chance to sit and observe. SUMMARY:Sunset Sound Bath
DESCRIPTION:An indoor Guided Meditation\, Relaxation and Sound Experience. \n\n\n\n\nSound Healing practitioner Marlene Boyette welcomes all to be held by the earth\, to find refuge\, to rest\, and to be led through a guided meditation intended to bring the mind and the body into unison\, while also engaging the senses. Weaving together the sounds\, vibrations\, and energy of our natural surroundings with a variety of instruments (including deeply resonant crystal and metal singing bowls and chimes)\, participants will be bathed in layered sonic acoustics. \nThe experience will close with an opportunity for all to reflect and set intentions for the new season through dialogue and / or journaling. \nWhat to bring: a yoga mat\, blanket or towel\, a journal\, and writing utensil.
