In 1831 the Boston horticulturalists who founded Mount Auburn launched a major campaign to drum up business for the new cemetery and garden. They wrote pamphlets and newspaper articles, and commissioned maps and engravings that were widely circulated with the public. Guidebooks and photo albums were published as souvenirs of a visit to Mount Auburn, and nearly two centuries of interactions with families and businesses is represented in a rich visual collection of letterheads, billheads, and trade cards. Today, we continue to create and collect a wide range of materials related to Mount Auburn. Please join Meg L. Winslow on this virtual event to learn more about some of the remarkable ephemera to be found in our Historical Collections & Archives.

Funding for programs has been provided in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
