The Great Rose Window Restored: An early Scottish masterwork sees new light
As part of the Bigelow Chapel revitalization project, the historic, hand-painted glass of the Great Rose Window is being meticulously restored by Serpentino Stained & Leaded Glass Studio. Commissioned by Cemetery founder Jacob Bigelow in 1845 as an integral part of his design of the Chapel, the window is an important example of early stained glass in this country. In celebration of Mount Auburn’s consecration held this day in 1831, please join Curator of Historical Collections Meg L. Winslow to learn the remarkable story of Bigelow Chapel’s stained glass windows and see behind-the-scenes photos of the exciting and complex project. This talk will take place in Story Chapel.
