The Birds and the Trees: Ecological Interdependencies
Birds and trees depend on each other in a number of ways and are tightly linked ecologically. Trees provide roosting and nesting habitat as well as direct and indirect sources of food for birds. At the same time, birds help trees by foraging on leaf-eating insects, dispersing seeds, and even pollinating flowers. Please join nature photographer and ecologist Brooks Mathewson in Story Chapel for a discussion on the ecological interdependencies between birds and trees and a presentation of some of his stunning photography depicting these interactions.
