Stories From The African-American Heritage Trail
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, Volunteer Docent Stephen Pinkerton will examine the lives and times of African-Americans buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery, who were born into slavery and fled to the North to forge new lives as free citizens. Notables include political/social activists Harriet, John and Louisa Jacobs; elder caregiver Mary Walker; and professional tailor Peter Byus. Weather permitting, the presentation in Story Chapel will be followed by a short walking tour.
