Lunch Time Lecture: Preserving Civil War Stories in Stone
This spring will mark the end of a four year sesquicentennial commemoration of the Civil War. Join us for this free series of lunch-time talks as we share some of our favorite Civil War stories. All talks will take place in Story Chapel. Bring your lunch for these hour-long presentations, coffee and tea provided.
Over the past two years preservation work has been done on 17 significant monuments commemorating notable Civil War figures. Gus Fraser, Director of Preservation and Facilities will share the details of our conservation efforts as well as a glimpse of the stories of the men and women commemorated including a flag bearer, surgeon, captain, nurse and others.
Funding for programs has been provided in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
