By the time the United States officially entered World War I in 1917, hundreds of Americans had already seen combat as pilots in the French Aviation Service (Armée de l’Air) and the British Royal Air Force. Hundreds more flew in U. S. Army Aero Squadrons after America joined the Allied cause. Volunteer docent Steve Pinkerton will lead a tour honoring pioneering World War I air service veterans buried at Mount Auburn, including Frazier Curtis, a co-founder of the Lafayette Flying Corps, and RAF Flying Ace Francis Peabody Magoun.

Funding for programs has been provided in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
