Mount Auburn Cemetery is the final resting place for many of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s most important historical figures, including: founder William Barton Rogers and seven other members of the original faculty; Presidents and Vice Presidents; and graduates of the Class of 1868 and subsequent early years, including several of MIT’s earliest women students. More recent luminaries include Harold ‘Doc’ Edgerton, Gyorgy Kepes, Howard W. Johnson, and Gian-Carlo Rota. Join docent Steve Pinkerton in commemoration of the formal opening of “Boston Tech” in October 1865.
