Family Dance Workshop: Grooving with Grief

October 12 @ 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM

Led by Mount Auburn Artist-in-Residence, dancer/choreographer Lonnie Stanton, this family workshop is rooted in movement and play, and is designed for families with children 4-10 years old. However, all ages and bodies are welcome! We will read and center the book: Everywhere, Still, a book about loss, grief, and the way love continues. Written by M.H. Clark and illustrated by Clair Lemp. Click here to read a review and interview with the author. Note: Familiarity with the book is not required.

This book, the surrounding Fall foliage, and creative movement prompts will encourage age-appropriate explorations around grief. There will be a warmup, a treasure hunt to find a fallen leaf to care for and dance with, and lots of opportunity to embrace our natural surroundings. The workshop will also be accompanied by live music from Akili Jamal Haynes.

Grieving families and families wanting to educate their children around grief are welcome. Please note that at least one adult is required to be present with the participating child throughout the workshop.
