Armenians of Mount Auburn Cemetery
This year marks the 100th anniversary of commencement of the Armenian Genocide. Between 1915 and 1923, some 1.5 million Armenians were killed or eliminated from their ancestral lands in the Ottoman Empire. Thousands of Armenian refugees found new homes in the Boston area, and hundreds later chose Mount Auburn Cemetery as their final resting place. Stephen Pinkerton, Marc A. Mamigonian, and Ruth Thomasian will lead a walking tour exploring the history of the Armenian community centered in Watertown and Belmont through stories of selected former area residents interred at Mount Auburn.
Meet at Mount Auburn Cemetery greenhouses, Grove Street, Watertown. MA
Attendance Limited to 30, Preregistration Required.
