African American Legacies
2019 marks the 400th year of the institution of slavery in English America. This walk led by docent, Rosemarie Smurzynski, will explore Mount Auburn’s African American Heritage Trail. We will visit those who resisted this institution, both black and white folk, and brought about equality, justice and agency for African Americans. Among those we will visit are Ruffin family members, Maria White Lowell and Harriet Jacobs family members.
