CANCELLED: Beauty on the Edge of Eternity: a lecture and book signing by photographer Richard Cheek

September 2, 2016

We apologize for any disappointment but this event has been cancelled.

5:30 PM Reception
6 PM Lecture

When it was established in 1831 as the first garden cemetery in America, Mount Auburn Cemetery was intended to replace the crowded and unsanitary urban burial grounds in Boston with a park-like setting in the countryside.  Using photographs from his portrait of the cemetery, Mount Auburn Cemetery: Beauty on the Edge of Eternity, Richard Cheek will demonstrate how man-made art combines with the deliberately heightened natural beauty of the cycling seasons to represent the regeneration of life on earth and the salvation of the soul in heaven above.  Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.  Meet in Story Chapel.
