WorldBeetsPercussionEnsembleWorld Beets Percussion Ensemble (WBPE) was begun in the fall of 2012, with the intent to create a community drumming ensemble in the Greater Wayland/Framingham/Natick area. Founder Martin Case, with the help of members Janet Drake, Susan Donnell, John Ladas and Jean Laing, created the ensemble to gather local residents and create an ensemble that would be community supportive, though private and group lessons, and civically engaged, by performing in both public and private events and concerts. For more information visit www.WorldBeetsPercussionEnsemble.org.

JanetDrakeJanet Drake has heard rhythms in random sounds around her – like rain falling, water dripping, and objects being blown by wind since she was a child. Her interest in drumming came alive when she attended a frame drum workshop given by the late, beloved Layne Redmond. In her spare time outside of her family and work, she enjoys being involved in causes she supports, hearing results of shared ensemble work, and teaching basic drumming technique to anyone who asks. Appreciating a long-ago quote, she says: “Much of what drumming is cannot be put into words. The meaning is in the feeling, and you get it from the drumming.”
