The 1915 Woman Suffrage Parade in Boston

August 25, 2017

“On October 16, 1915 supporters of woman’s suffrage in Massachusetts held a rally in support of the ballot measure that would have amended the Massachusetts Constitution to grant women the right to vote in Massachusetts.”*

This walk will tell the story of the rally through the voices of Massachusetts women who lived in these times and are buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery.  We will learn of the multi-decades effort leading up to the rally, including the founding of the Massachusetts Woman’s Suffrage Movement in 1870 by Julia Ward Howe and other Bostonians. Docent Rosemarie Smurzynski will lead this walk.
