Longfellow Birthday Celebration
Longfellow and the Legacy of the Dante Club
Join us in Story Chapel (located just inside Mount Auburn’s Entrance) for our annual Henry Wadsworth Longfellow birthday celebration.
In honor of the most recent publication of Dante Studies, an issue which is dedicated to Longfellow and his interest in the classic Italian poet, this year’s annual celebration features a talk by Christian Dupont. A rare book librarian and independent scholar, Mr. Dupont has published extensively on reading and collecting Dante in America. His essays and catalogues on Longfellow and Dante appear in Dante Studies.
Following the indoor program, you are invited to join us for a wreath-laying ceremony at the Longfellow family lot on Indian Ridge Path. The Longfellow lot is a brief walk from Story Chapel (approximately 5 minutes).
This program is co-sponsored with the Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site, the Friends of the Longfellow House, and The Dante Society of America.
Funding for programs has been provided in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
